The voyage of Mars through Cancer gives us the opportunity to blend the fiery planet’s initiative with Cancerian concerns for preservation. We’ll want to spend this time carefully building things that honor and acknowledge our connection to the past and to family values. Our urge to move forward during this time doesn’t cut us off from familiar patterns, but includes them, to make for a more gentle and comfortable step into the future.
It’s true that Mars is toned down when it moves through sensitive Cancer, but that doesn’t mean we won’t get anything done. If we learn how to work with the Mars-in-Cancer energy, a great deal can be accomplished. Digging into domestic tasks is one of the best ways to use this transit. Mars in Cancer is a great opportunity to get out your hammer and nails so you can start (or finish) a home improvement project.
You may also feel a greater need to fight for the rights of a family member or a domestic situation during this time. Even though Mars in Cancer prefers using its energy to nurture, it will ultimately do whatever it takes to defend what and whom it cares about. As a result, you may notice that an intensely protective instinct takes over your actions when Mars and Cancer sync up.
The problem with Mars’ transit though cautious Cancer is that rather than taking a direct approach to going after what we want, we take a more passive one. If we don’t feel emotionally connected to something, it’s unlikely we’ll take action. Unfortunately, the action we do take is usually ruled by the heart, and may be more reactive and oversensitive than purposeful.

The Third Quarter moon is currently 23.7 days old. The next new moon is at 17:55:08, 14 Oct 2023. The next full moon is at 20:24:27, 28 Oct 2023.
Alright, Cancerians, buckle up! As the Third Quarter moon is now 23.7 days old, it's time to get your ducks in a row. Or, in this case, your crabs.
The current lunar phase is like that last piece of double-fudge chocolate cake you've been saving for a special occasion - it's not going to last forever, so you might as well enjoy it while it lasts, right? And with the moon's age being a prime number (I mean, who doesn't love those?), it's clear that the universe is calling for you to prime yourself for some action!
Your ruling planet, the Moon, is in its waning gibbous phase, which means it's time for letting go. Like when you have to release a coffee mug you've accidentally super-glued to your hand... (Not that I've done that... twice.)
This phase is all about releasing and relinquishing control – a bit like when you finally surrender the TV remote after binge-watching Babylon 5 for the umpteenth time. It's about acknowledging that some things just need to run their course, even if that course involves a lot of reruns and takeaway pizza.
So, my dear Cancerians, remember to take a breath, have some fun, and let go of things that are out of your control. After all, the universe has a funny way of working things out, even when it seems like you're on a non-stop shuttle to Zeta Reticuli.
